Nest Partners With I-View Now to Offer Video Alarm Verification Services

The Nest collaboration with I-View Now gives professional installers an opportunity to increase recurring revenue with a Software as a Service (SaaS) model.

PALO ALTO, Calif. — A new partnership between Nest Labs and I-View Now will allow installing security contractors to provide RMR-generating video alarm verification services to end customers who deploy Nest Cam security cameras with most any brand of alarm system.

The new service offering integrates security system signals and Nest’s WiFi-connected cameras, giving end users, monitoring station operators and emergency responders visual confirmation of security incidents, allowing them to prioritize their resources in case of an alarm event.

“For us to be able to provide the added benefit of visual information to a monitoring station so that the right information can be passed onto the authorities to help us catch a bad guy or deal with an emergency, we think that’s a true selling benefit for dealers and a differentiator today,” Gene LaNois, head of Nest’s Professional Channel, tells SSI.

LaNois continues: “We really want to try to help create the awareness of how important video verification is. So it’s a two-step process for us. We’ve got the value proposition for alarm dealers to utilize Nest cameras in their business and have it be part of their profitability and their revenue stream. And then, too, have the benefits of the technology work for the homeowner and help them position their business differently than maybe somebody else they’re competing against. It helps to provide efficiencies for the monitoring stations. There’s a lot of benefit here we’re excited to announce.”

Because it leverages Cloud architecture and a Software as a Service (SaaS) model, I-View Now does not require any additional software or hardware in the monitoring station or for emergency responders. I-View Now’s technology is said to result in fewer false alarms dispatches and more information for better decision making.

“We have great partnerships with a lot of very large players in the space. Our customer is the central station. You’ll see us strive to have the best products integrated to the platform to support our retail central station partners and our wholesale central station partners,” Larry Folsom, president of I-View, tells SSI. “We’re agnostic, and we’ll continue to be an open platform because Nest is an example where some of this is mutating very quickly. Being open means we’re going to be able to get these technologies to the market faster.”

Nest Pro installers receive professional pricing and terms, along with training and tools, live support and smart home customer referrals. More information about the program is available here.
