Ring Alarm System Now Being Marketed to Verizon Customers

SANTA MONICA, Calif. — Ring has reached a marketing agreement to promote its DIY home security system to Verizon customers.
Verizon customers can purchase a Ring Alarm Security Kit with Verizon LTE cellular backup for $229.99. Customers have the option to choose professional monitoring through the Security by Ring plan, which provides for emergency support for $10 per month billed directly their Verizon account.
The 7-piece alarm security kit with Verizon LTE comes with a base station, keypad, range extender, motion detector and three contact sensors for windows or doors. Users can expand their home’s security by adding on additional Ring Alarm security devices at any time.
The alarm system integrates with compatible Ring security devices, including video doorbells and cameras, for whole-home, connected security. Verizon customers can also use their Ring Alarm with compatible Alexa-enabled devices to arm and disarm their alarm system, as well as lock and unlock their doors equipped with compatible smart locks by asking Alexa to “lock the door.”
The Ring Alarm base station provides up to 24 hours of battery backup in case the power goes out.
In April, the Amazon-owned company announced the release of the second generation of Ring Alarm. Among the most notable changes to the latest iteration of the alarm system are with the keypad, which is slimmer and about half the size of the previous generation. The keypad also introduces one-touch buttons for emergency services.
Newly designed motion detectors and contact sensors are also smaller and said to be easier to mount.
