Loyal Employees Lead the Way at LVC Companies
2019 SSI Installer of the Year runner-up LVC says it is finding new and better ways to evolve its service through employee feedback.

Ensuring everyone is on the same page is integral for team success. At LVC Companies, employees understand that its clients are the No. 1 priority.
“Understanding that our goal is for every client to have an exceptional experience has allowed our employees greater latitude to ensure that it happens. We have found that through soliciting, listening, and acting or responding to employee feedback, we are finding new and better ways to evolve the service we provide to our clients,” explains Robbie Danko, marketing manager at LVC.
One way the company is keeping its customers satisfied is with its recently added service of third-party commissioning, in which LVC acts as an independent, certified commissioning authority for building owners.
“As a third-party professional, we bring objectivity and practical experience to projects ensuring that the owner will get the building performance that they expect,” says Keith Kranz, sales manager. “We believe that it is essential to be involved as a commissioning authority as early in the project as possible. Doing so allows the provider the opportunity to review the design intent for the project, begin scheduling commissioning activities and begin writing specifications into bid documents for other contractors.”
LVC ensures its employees are properly trained by offering a variety of training programs. At its Minnesota headquarters, all field employees have either completed or are currently enrolled in the Minnesota Joint Apprenticeship Training Program (JATC).
The program is a three-year educational classroom and hands-on program that teaches electronics, safety, multiple technology platforms and prepares students to take their Minnesota Power Limited technical license test.
LVC monitors the training status of its employees by electronically tracking for renewal dates on certificates and licenses.
“That same database is reviewed regularly to look for employees who would benefit from additional training, or an added skill. We also encourage employees to talk with their managers to talk about advocating their own ongoing training needs and opportunities for development and growth,” says Brian Gould, operations manager.
The company keeps its employees motivated and fulfilled by making sure everyone is heard. LVC holds quarterly breakfasts as a format to introduce new employees, recognize achievements, share company successes and foster discussion between managers and employees.
“If people feel they have good relationships at their place of employment, they are more likely to enjoy their job and be better at their job,” Gould says.
