Guarding Firm SOS Security Acquires First Alarm Security Services

First Alarm Security Services provides security solutions for industrial complexes, businesses, school districts, governments and healthcare facilities.

PARSIPPANY, N.J. — SOS Security, a national provider of security guard personnel, has acquired First Alarm Security Services of San Jose, Calif., for undisclosed terms.

First Alarm Security Services provides security solutions for industrial complexes, businesses, school districts, governments and healthcare facilities, according to an announcement. Based in Silicon Valley, the company has seven offices and a team of 1,900 employees serving counties from Mendocino to Monterey, as well as the greater Central Valley.

“Having First Alarm Security become a part of SOS Security solidifies our position in Northern California,” says Edward B. Silverman, chairman and CEO of SOS Security. “The company, led by President Cal Horton, helps us to fulfill our strategic vision to acquire the best, like-minded companies to expand our resources in critical markets and strengthen our ability to service our clients.”

First Alarm Security Services also operates a sister company, First Alarm Security & Patrol.

“We are very pleased to join with SOS Security while continuing to provide for our client needs as we always have,” says Horton. “Applying our combined talent, resources and domestic and global capabilities will lead to new and exciting opportunities for our clients and employees.”

First Alarm Security Services will operate as a subsidiary in SOS Security’s West Coast region, and Horton and his team will continue to spearhead the company’s growth in the California market. “We have reached this milestone thanks to the hard work and dedication of our employees,” Horton adds.

“I am excited about the opportunities that First Security, along with our AS Solution Division, which has been serving Silicon Valley for more than 10 years, bring to SOS Security in the California market and beyond,” Silverman says.

Les Gold, an SSI Industry Hall of Fame inductee, and Tony Adler of Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp (MSK) represented the First Alarm Security Services throughout the negotiation and sale. Barry Epstein of Vertex Capital served as the exclusive adviser to First Alarm Security Services.
