SSI’s Top 10 Security Stories From 2020
SSI’s most viewed stories from 2020 include topics such as M&A, COVID loan info and legal disputes, featuring companies like ADT, Allied Universal and many more.

You’ve probably already heard this countless times, but 2020 did not at all go according to plan. Business plans for the new decade were dashed just a few months into the year. Fortunately, the security industry is pretty much as recession-resistant as you can get.
SSI has compiled this list of most-read stories to see what caught the eye of web visitors in 2020. As in previous years, M&A and legal issues are the dominant topics.
Unsurprisingly, there is also some COVID-19-based content, two stories of which are related to federal loans — showing how important government aid has been in these unprecendented times. Editor-in-Chief Scott Goldfine assembled all the top COVID-related stories (and there’s a lot of them) from 2020 here.
The most popular acquisitions this year came courtesy of Allied Universal and ADT. For more 2020 M&A, check out the top deals of the year.
It also wouldn’t be a top story list without some legal disputes, especially ones involving Vivint and ADT, and this year did not disappoint.
Make sure to check out the rest of 2020’s most read stories, which include a dispute of SimpliSafe’s advertising claims, insight into Alarm.com’s relationship with ADT following Big Blue’s partnership with Google and more.
