Changing Competitive Landscape

On Wednesday, ESX Chair George De Marco moderated a panel session with Tim Colleran, director of business development at Qualcomm (center), and Nate Williams, chief revenue officer for August, a developer of Bluetooth door locks. The mission here was to zero in on disruptive technologies and emerging trends that can be expected to significantly impact installing security contractors’ businesses and the industry. De Marco also welcomed Amazon’s hands-free Echo speaker device to the stage and had some fun during a mock conversation with its Alexa voice. It was an appropriate addition to the discourse, given the panelists suggested that voice recognition will explode in the next five years as users will be able to control a multitude of smart home control devices, including security systems.
