It’s that time of the year again: time for all grateful managers, bosses and owners to take a special moment to reward personnel who have done their best to keep the business going through these rough times.

As has become tradition in this space, we’re highlighting some tech-related gifts that are most likely to put a big smile on the faces of even the toughest person to find something unique for.

Techie Gifts for 2023

Now, let’s get down to the techie gifts for 2023. I have tried to find a mix of some very techie gifts and some more holiday-type items, as well. Enjoy.

Blade Sharpener ($15): We have always selected Leatherman for their amazing multi-tools. Did you know they make an inexpensive blade-sharpening tool? This device comes with a carbide sharpener, ceramic sharpener and diamond-coated sharpening rod specially designed for serrated blades.

Rechargeable Waterproof Pocket Flashlight BBM6411 ($27): This is one very compact flashlight from Blackfire/Klein Tools. It is rechargeable and comes with a dual-direction pocket clip, giving you hands-free lighting by clipping it onto your service ball cap.

32717 Precision Screwdriver Set with Case ($30): Suggested by James Tilley, this is another handy tool gift from Klein Tools. The kit comes with 39 bits in a handy clear plastic box. The bits have strong magnets. Kits include an extension shaft for hard-to-reach places.

LED Beanie with Light and Wireless Headphones ($20): This is a must for almost any winter-weather service tech: a unisex Bluetooth LED beanie with light and wireless headphones. Made by Keains.

Flipper Zero ($170): Suggested by Dustin Snyder. Labeled by Flipper as “the multi-tool device for geeks,” this gadget will keep even the techiest person busy for hours. The idea of Flipper Zero is to combine all the hardware tools you’d need for exploration and development on the go. You have to take a look at it to believe all the things it can do.

Mini Portable Oven ($40): Suggested by Mark Anderson. Brought to you from a company called Hot Logic, this is a miniature personal heated lunchbox. Now, you can have hot meals in your service van — no more cold sandwiches.

Making Life Easier

Hook-and-Loop Tape Dispenser ($40): Suggested by Tim Daugherty. Brought to you by Klein Tools. Every tech can always use an extra hand when laying down and bundling cable. This device should come in very handy and make life a little easier.

Ohm’s Law Mug ($10): What better and more novel way to remind all techs of the importance of Ohm’s law? This novel mug has the famous Ohm’s law wheel diagram on it. A great conversation piece, at least.

Alarm Technician Gift Funny Appreciation T-Shirt ($20): Brought to you by Amazon merchandising. The shirt states, “I never dreamed I would be a super cool alarm technician. But here I am, rockin’ it.” A fun gift, for sure.

Titan Deep Freeze 30-Can Zipperless Cooler ($92): Brought to you by Arctic Zone. Deep Freeze high-performance insulation with radiant-heat barrier reflects heat rather than absorbing it. Patented “flip open” zipperless lid allows for quick access to food and drinks. Features FDA-compliant HardBody liner with removable SmartShelf.

Rambler 35oz. Straw Mug ($42): Another famous mug from YETI. A nice, big 35oz. Supremely insulated and made with an elevated handle and a cup-holder-compatible design. 18/8 stainless steel, it resists dents and drops, and the double-wall vacuum insulation keeps drinks cold to the last drop.

Technician Toolbox Ornament ($15): A nice Christmas tree ornament that says it all for techs. Brought to you Etsy. Make sure to get it customized with name and year.

Other Popular Gift Suggestions

Here are some other popular suggestions for holiday gifts for techs and staff members:

  • Money: A cash-money bonus is easily the most popular gift for work well done. Inflationary times are tough for all this year, so any extra funds to help enjoy the holidays is always appreciated.
  • Gift cards: They are a nice way to pay for a special meal on the town or that new, hand-selected gift.
  • For those techs who have gone above and beyond, an all-expenses-paid trip to a warm, sandy beach might make these holidays extra special.
  • Don’t forget to throw that company party — with gifts, of course. Make up some trivia games about the company and its history.
